Both the Travel Utility Pants and Travel Utility Shirtwere born from a love of timeless design, inspired by American heritage styles I’ve hunted down at vintage markets and small shops from Los Angeles to Tokyo. Each piece reimagines classic workwear through the lens of modern travel: functional, versatile, and ready for wherever your journey takes you.
The idea started with one of my all-time favorite garments, the OG-107 military pant, originally issued to American soldiers from 1952 through the 1980s. The “107” referred to the Army’s dark olive color code, and its design set the standard for what we now think of as a true utility pant. Rugged, honest, and purpose-built.
I’ve always loved the understated simplicity of those pants, but I wanted to make a version that feels right for today’s traveler. The Aviator update keeps the spirit of the original but refines every detail:

Streamlined patch pockets with clean lines
Our signature hidden zipper pockets for added security. We of course added two in the back and one front.
A subtle 5th pocket designed to hold your phone, perfectly placed for easy access when you’re on the move and security isn't a concern.

The result is a pant that balances military heritage with modern functionality, built for style, comfort, and confidence on every trip.

For the Travel Utility Shirt, I drew inspiration from the classic US Navy chambray and American workwear shirts that have stood the test of time. Chambray itself dates back over 500 years to France, but it became distinctly American in the early 1900s when it became the uniform of the worker and later, the sailor.

It’s a fabric that carries history. From the decks of naval ships to Hollywood icons like Elvis, Paul Newman, and Steve McQueen, the chambray shirt has always symbolized effortlessness and authenticity.
Our version carries that legacy forward, updated for today’s traveler:

Functional dual chest pockets refined for style and utility. Our pocket design is also a conversation piece.
A tailored silhouette that pairs seamlessly with any pant.
A soft, durable fabric that wears beautifully and only gets better with time.

It’s the kind of shirt you’ll want to take everywhere, versatile enough for dinner in Paris, durable enough for exploring Tokyo’s backstreets, and timeless enough to look right at home wherever you go.

Both the Utility Pants and the Utility Shirt are proudly made in Los Angeles, continuing Aviator’s commitment to craftsmanship, quality, and responsible production. Each piece is built to travel, to last, and to tell the story of everywhere it’s been, including your next adventure.
Aviator is more than just a clothing brand; it's a testament to the spirit of adventure and the pursuit of comfort and confidence.
